best BBQ meals my husband & I have had

Where to start…our waitress was great. I asked her to put together a flight of beers for me, told her what I generally like and dislike, she did a great job. The flight glasses are bigger than average. I really enjoyed it. Then our food came..it was one of the best BBQ meals my husband & I have had (and that’s after traveling around the country). The smoked turkey was incredible. My husband doesn’t even care for mac & cheese or cornbread, but he really enjoyed both. I LOVED them, along with the beans. Everything was homemade. Highly recommended this place, I wish we lived closer to enjoy it more often.

look no more and stop in

I decided to come here for something different with my wife. We were pleasantly delighted at the overall friendliness of the staff and cleanliness of the dining room as well as its decor. We ordered the cornbread fritters for the appetizer, and they were amazing. The wife ordered brisket and ribs with collard greens and baby bakers. I ordered ribs and chicken with Mac n cheese and potato salad. It was amazing food with amazing service. If you are considering a place to eat, look no more and stop in and get you a bite here!

recommend to grab a bite when in town

The food here is fantastic. The ribs fall off the bone, the mac N cheese creamy and delicious, the corn bread is a slightly sweet treat for the senses. MUST get corn bread fritter. James Slayer was a wonderful waiter even though we paid, tipped, and checked out he went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. All around great food, atmosphere and staff. Would definitely recommend to grab a bite when in town.

I would definitely recommend this place

Welcoming staff that made our party feel at home as soon as we entered the establishment. The bartender was friendly and helpful in navigating the menu. The food was delicious and I would definitely recommend this place to any visitor!

Great food, great atmosphere, great staff

I live in Richlands Va and every time I visit Abingdon Va my initial stop is the Bonefire Smokehouse BBQ. Great food, great atmosphere, great staff. The resturant is going through renovations but so far the interior beauty has not been impacted. Their name will be changing to Bone Fire at the Hardware. It’s hard to pick one meal as a favorite because the menu has such a huge selection. Prices are reasonable and service impeccable. Live bands on Sundays and Mondays. A must visit in Abingdon

Will definitely be back!

The place has a great ambiance, friendly staff, and wonderful food and drinks. Really loved the cornbread fritters! We had reservations at another restaurant and stopped in for drinks and we seriously considered cancelling and ordering entrees. Will definitely be back!

Food and service was phenomenal!

Food and service was phenomenal! Best brisket and ribs around! You have to try the corn bread fritters. Collard greens where cooked to a perfect (not mushy) texture and had a more sweet savory flavor. Potato salad had a great smoked flavor and was nothing like I had ever had before. The brisket Philly sandwich with Gouda cheese, peppers, and onions literally melted in my mouth! Get a side of their bbq sauce – you will put it in everything. Service was great and we got our food without a huge wait. We will be back to try more of their menu selection!

This place is fantastic!

This place is fantastic! The brisket sandwich was absolutely delicious! The service as fast and very friendly! We sat next to the open window and enjoyed the view and fresh air. The BBQ sauce is served on the side allowing the true smokey flavor of the meat to not be covered up or masked. This is the way good BBQ is intended to be eaten! The corn fritters are in a class by themselves. I am so glad I took her advice and tried them. Their home fried potato chips are also done to perfection. Can’t wait to come back for more.

Sunday buffet for a group of 19

Remodeling going on but doesn’t interfere with service in this old hardware location. We had a Sunday buffet for a group of 19. Staff was super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful in seeing everyone was taken care of. Selections were ample, food was delicious and drink choices sufficient. The interior filled with history.

Stopped by for a beer with my dogs

Stopped by for a beer with my dogs after backpacking Mt. Rogers for three days last Friday afternoon/evening. Megan the bartender took great care of me. The later stopped by for dinner and another beer and met Doug who was an awesome host. The food was amazing, the beer cold and the atmosphere perfect. Lots of new ideas coming (back patio, upstairs pool tables, etc). Already looking forward to the next visit. Forgot to mention the music. Top notch Blues. What’s not to like.

Hill Billy Philly was delicious…

Neat BBQ place in what appears to be an old hardware store…at least the old lettering above the place said “Hardware”. We ended up parking in the back off the main street and cutting thru an alley to get to the front. The Hill Billy Philly was delicious… Made with tender chopped brisket, smoked gouda, peppers and onions on a toasted sub. Came with homemade crinkle cut chips. Service was on point, with a guy who I think was the owner, helping wait on us with refills. Everyone in our riding group enjoyed it. Highly recommend.

best she’d ever had

Very, very good bar-b-que. My wife said her bar-b-que chicken sandwich was the best she’d ever had. I tried The Hog specialty sandwich which was very good. Both of our sandwiches came with house-made potato chips which were good. The restaurant is inside an old hardware store and is nicely decorated on the inside. Good atmosphere. There’s a small sign in a front window (they need a bigger, better sign).

A great place to eat

A great place to eat, ordered the smoked wings and some ribs. The service was quick and efficient. The bar had plenty of spirits and craft beers to choose.

best experience with live music

Had the best experience with live music, friendly patrons, and great food/drinks. There was a live jazz group that was absolutely delightful to hear.
